Pennsylvania middle school students complete the annual Pennsylvania System School Assessment (PSSA). This standards-based, criterion-referenced assessment provides students, parents and educators with an understanding of student and school performance.
Assessments take place between late April and early May.
Students in grades 6-8 are assessed in English Language Arts and Math. Additionally, students in grade 8 are assessed in Science.
Form a team of success with regular communication between parents, students, and teachers.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education provides resources about the assessments and additional tools to prepare. Progress Learning can help by providing standards aligned practice to help students prepare for testing.
Regular assessments of standards-aligned material can help students make up knowledge gaps ahead of PSSA testing. Create individual study and practice testing in students’ weak areas.
