The North Carolina End-of-Grade (EOG) Tests are designed to measure student performance on the goals, objectives, and grade-level competencies specified in the North Carolina Standard Course of Study (NCSCOG).
End of Grade assessments for math, reading, and 8th grade science are given to middle school students in North Carolina in the final 10 instructional days of the school year.
For End of Course exams in biology, NC Math 1, and NC Math 3, the exams are given either in the final 10 days of a yearlong course, or the final 5 days of a semester long course.
Students in grades 6-8 must complete testing in reading and mathematics. Additionally, students in grade 8 are tested in science in the areas of Matter: properties and change, Energy conservation and transfer, Earth Systems, structures and processes, Earth history, Structure and function of living organisms, Ecosystems, Evolution and genetics, and Molecular biology.
Regular assessments of standards-aligned material can help students make up knowledge gaps ahead of NCSCOG testing.
