About Georgia Milestones Testing

The Georgia Milestones Assessment System, also known as Milestones or GMAS, is a state testing program that measures how well students have mastered the Georgia Standards of Excellence and Georgia’s K-12 Mathematics Standards. Whereas K-8 students take End of Grade assessments, high school students take End of Course (EOC) assessments on specific subjects.

These Milestones EOC assessments are designed to assess students’ understanding and proficiency for those subjects. They serve as the final exam for the course and contribute to a percentage of the student’s final course grade.

The Georgia Milestones exams are administered in person primarily on the computer which means the assessments include technology enhanced items. These exams are given at the completion of each course.

High school students take End-of-Course (EOC) exams for particular subjects, including American Literature and Composition, Algebra: Concepts and Connections, Biology, and U.S. History.

How Do You Prepare for Georgia Milestones?

Start by reviewing the Milestones assessment guides and study guides provided by the Georgia Department of Education to understand the test’s content and structure. Then, create your own questions and assessments to help students with the topic they need to study. Progress Learning makes specific standards aligned practice and exam review easy with a variety of tools for teachers, including a comprehensive assessment and assignment builder.

For high school educators, your approach to Milestones test prep may vary by student and subject. Consider reviewing specific topics during class periods or dedicating time for focused study sessions or one-on-one tutoring. By tailoring your teaching strategy to your students, you will improve their standards mastery and Milestones success.
