Proven Results On Georgia's New K-12 Mathematics Standards

Georgia recently adopted new math standards, moving from Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) to the new Georgia K-12 Mathematics Standards.

Progress Learning is constantly evolving as states change their standards and our platform is fully up to date and aligns with Georgia’s new math standards for all grade levels, including for grades 3-5 that receive math assessments.

Recently, several schools in Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools were even recognized as leaders in math by the Georgia Department of Education after using Progress Learning’s updated math items.

About Georgia Milestones Testing

The Georgia Milestones Assessment System, also known as Milestones or GMAS, is a state testing program that measures how well students have mastered the Georgia Standards of Excellence.

The assessments are administered to students in grades 3-12 across various subjects, including English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. The Milestones are designed to assess students’ readiness for the next level of learning, be it the next grade, course, college, or career.

The Georgia Milestones exams are administered in person primarily on the computer which means the assessments include technology enhanced items.

The exams are given in the late spring with retests given in the early summer.

The Georgia Milestones End of Grade assessments are given to students in grades 6-8. ELA and math assessments are given to students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Students in 8th grade also take assessments in science and social studies.

How Do You Prepare for Georgia Milestones?

Start by reviewing the Milestones assessment guides and study guides provided by the Georgia Department of Education to understand the test’s content and structure. Then, create your own questions and assessments to help students with the topic they need to study. Progress Learning makes specific standards aligned practice and exam review easy with a variety of tools for teachers, including a comprehensive assessment and assignment builder.

For middle school educators, your approach to Milestones test prep may vary by student and subject. Consider forming small groups, incorporating gamification into your instruction, or scheduling daily practice time to keep students engaged. By tailoring your teaching strategy to your students, you will improve their standard mastery and Milestones success.
