About South Carolina EOCEP Testing

The End-of-Course Examination Program (EOCEP) is a statewide assessment program that measures how well high school students have mastered academic standards in specific gateway courses. These tests make up 20% of the student’s final grade in the course.

South Carolina’s EOCEP assessments are administered online. Paper exams are administered only in certain situation for students with specific accommodations.

For high school students, EOCEP exams must not begin earlier than the last 15 instructional days of the semester or school year, except for the English 2 writing section which must not begin more than 20 days before the end of semester or school year. The reading and writing sections can’t be administered on the same day.

For high school students, EOCEP exams are administered in the following subjects:

  • Algebra 1
  • Biology 1
  • English 2 Reading
  • English 2 Writing
  • U.S. History and Constitution

How Do You Prepare for South Carolina EOCEP Assessments?

Start by reviewing the sample items and test blueprints on ed.sc.gov to understand the test’s content and structure. Then, create your own questions and assessments to help students with the topic they need to study. Progress Learning makes specific SCCCR aligned practice and exam review easy with a variety of tools for teachers, including a comprehensive assessment and assignment builder.

For high school educators, your approach to EOCEP test prep may vary by student and subject. By tailoring your teaching strategy to your students, you will improve their standards mastery and boost their test performance.
